Sometimes, while I am training for a running event, the thought creeps in: Is this even worth doing? What's the point?
This question translates perfectly to everyday life. Is there a point in striving for goals like running your first half-marathon or achieving a new personal record (PR)?
It's easy to get lost in a philosophical discussion, but after careful consideration, I conclude that there might not be an inherent point to anything. But maybe that's exactly the point. We have the freedom to choose the games we play.
If our chosen game is running a 3-hour marathon, and we genuinely enjoy pursuing that goal, then that becomes the point. When it stops serving us, we can simply choose a different game.
For now, running is one of those infinite games that offers me a fun and fulfilling journey.
